To faiclitate the modern molecular breeding, a breeding project was launched
under the support by the SATREPS program
in collaboration with the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and
the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The rice germplasm collection stocked in the Seed Bank of the Department of
Agricultural Research (DAR) in Myanmar was genotyped and screened to assemble a
diversity panel that can represent genetic diversity in Myanmar rice cultivars.
Since the majority of Myanmar rice varieties were classified to the indica subspecies,
250 indcia varieties were selected as members of Myanmar indica diversity panel (MIDP).
In addition to assembling the MIDP, the project also conducted a de novo genome assembly of a
representive variety to facilitate further in-depth molecular genetic research on Myanmar
rice germplasms. Inn Ma Yebaw (IMY), which is an elite lowland indica variety in Myanmar,
was selected as a representative variety of the MIDP and subjected to de novo genome assembly.
This database provides the genome browser and BLAST search service for the IMY genome assembly. The genome browser contains tracks to show gene models, repeat elements, and contig alignments on the IMY genome assembly. Variant sites in the MIDP against the IMY genome sequence were also visualized in the genome browser. FASTA files, GFF files, and VCF files of the datasets used to establish this database can be downloaded from the "Files" section of this page.
